VerseMark Bible: frequently asked questions
Quick answers about VerseMark Bible and VerseMark Catholic Bible, the verse-by-verse Bible reading tracker apps.
What is VerseMark Bible?
VerseMark Bible is a free Bible reading tracker for iPhone, iPad and Android. It lets you mark the exact verses you have read, follow a Bible reading plan, save favorite verses, write private notes, and see your progress across the whole Bible, each testament, each book and each chapter.
How is VerseMark different from other Bible reading trackers?
Most Bible reading trackers stop at the chapter. VerseMark tracks individual verses, so you can read Matthew 5:7-9 without marking the rest of Matthew 5, and your progress stays accurate.
Is VerseMark Bible free?
Yes. Both VerseMark apps are free to download, and the core reading tracker does not require a subscription.
Which phones and tablets does VerseMark support?
VerseMark Bible and VerseMark Catholic Bible are on the App Store for iPhone and iPad and on Google Play for Android (Catholic edition).
Does VerseMark work offline?
Yes. The Bible text saves to your device after the first launch, so chapters, passages and verse search work without an internet connection. In the Catholic edition the next two weeks of daily readings are saved too.
Which Bible translation does VerseMark use?
The English text is the World English Bible, which is public domain (the Catholic edition uses the World English Bible, Catholic Edition). The Spanish text is the Santa Biblia libre Latinoamericano from eBible.org, also public domain, a draft translation that is still being reviewed. See Bible text and sources.
Is VerseMark available in Spanish?
Yes. The whole app is available in English and Spanish. Choose your language when you open the app and switch any time in Profile; your notes, favorites and progress stay the same. See the Spanish site.
What is VerseMark Catholic Bible?
VerseMark Catholic Bible is the Catholic edition: the 73-book Catholic Bible canon, daily Mass readings for any date, a step-by-step Rosary with the mysteries of the day, saints and feast days, liturgical seasons, and the same verse-level reading tracker. Read more on the Catholic edition page.
Should I choose VerseMark Bible or VerseMark Catholic Bible?
Choose VerseMark Bible if you read the standard 66-book Christian Bible. Choose VerseMark Catholic Bible if you want the 73-book Catholic canon with daily Mass readings and the Rosary. They are separate apps, and you can install both. The download page compares them.
Can I use VerseMark for Bible study or a small group?
Yes. Private notes are tied to specific verses, and you can share selected passages with friends. See Bible study and small groups.
Does VerseMark have daily reading goals, streaks and reminders?
Yes. You can set a daily reading goal, keep a streak, and turn on reminders. The regular app also has Bible reading plans, with Today showing the next day of your plan.
Can I sync my reading progress between devices?
Yes. Sign in with an account to sync reading progress, favorites and notes across your devices. You can change your password from Profile and reset a forgotten one from the sign-in screen.
Is my reading data private?
Reading progress, favorites and notes are private to your account unless you choose to share a passage. Read the privacy policy. To delete your account, follow the account deletion steps.
Is VerseMark Catholic Bible an official Vatican, USCCB or diocesan app?
No. It is an independent app and is not an official app of the Vatican, the USCCB, any diocese, parish or Catholic ministry.
